Leaders, in Step 1, we brainstormed a list of attributes that define who we are, how we want to present ourselves in the workplace, and the culture we aim to create. In Step 2, we added details to clarify meaning and took time to reflect on our thinking.
Step 3 requires us to prepare to use mind mapping to organize, clarify, and condense our thoughts. I will share the specifics for our approach to mind mapping in Step 4.
Next, go back to the extended thinking you completed in Step 2. You are going to color – code each bulletin item to create what might be called categories, buckets, or clusters. You can print your list and use colored pencils, crayons or markers. You can use your computer highlighter. You can print your list, cut each part into individual pieces, and sort by rearranging until you have your buckets. Whatever works!
I chose to use different color highlights on my computer and have created the following buckets: Humanity, Learning, Relationships, Credibility, Clarity and Ethics. This is just a first shot. Time to let it simmer again. Next, I will go back to rethink and revise.
Your turn. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or comments. I would love to hear from you!
